BIOGRAPHY
LEORA J. PERKOWSKI

Born in 1957 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Leora Jean was the fifth of six children to Hugh and Leora Stahl. At the age of three she moved with her family to California. In elementary and high school Leora was not just a book worm and straight A student. Girlscouts, YMCA, the Debate Team, School Orchestra’s and the El Camino Youth Symphony kept her busy most every hour of the day. Leora , always curious and analytical, decided at the age of 14 to study law in order to gain insight into how the system worked. Before immersing herself in her studies however, Leora wanted to see something of the world and, at the same time, perfect her German language skills. She headed off to Germany for what was intended as a one year foreign program.

Leora’s fascination with Europe turned this one year exchange program into a ten year stay. In 1983 Leora graduated from the Christian Albrechts Universitaet in Kiel and passed her First States Exam in German Jurisprudence. She returned to California in 1984. After one accreditation year at Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, Leora passed the California Bar at her first sitting and was admitted to practice in this State in 1986.

From 1987 through 1990 Leora worked with the civil litigation team of Ropers, Majeski, Kohn, Bentley, Wagner and Kane in San Jose. From 1991 through 1993 she was associated with Daniel E. Leckrone (formerly corporate counsel for Memorex) and engaged in a technology licensing practice based in Silicon Valley. After several years hiatus from the legal profession, raising three children and working part time in her family’s high tech manufacturing facility, Leora returned to the law in Stockton, California in 2002. In 2007 Leora opened her own law office in Stockton.

Leora has developed strong ties within the legal community in San Joaquin County, where most of her clients reside. In January of 2009 Leora participated in a mediation training program conducted by the Pepperdine School of Law and sponsored by the San Joaquin County Superior Court. Leora hopes to expand her practice rapidly as a Civil Mediator approved by the Superior Court
